Building materials
Particles originating from building materials are frequently observed in indoor air samples or in settled dust. These particles have become airborne during the construction period of the building or during later remodelling or repair works. Although a lot of different materials are potential emission sources, the particles most frequently found originate from a few types: Building construction materials (cement-based, clay-based, gypsum, woodwork, insulation material), flooring, paint (pigments), metals. Also particles from maintenance products like floor polish are often observed.
